Kim Hoa Hue Restaurant
Located at 9813 Garvey Ave in El Monte, CA, Kim Hoa Hue Restaurant is a hidden gem for Vietnamese noodle lovers seeking bold flavors and hearty portions. This modest eatery may appear unassuming from the outside, but its authentic central Vietnamese dishes speak volumes. Known primarily for its Bún Bò Huế, Kim Hoa Hue delivers a rich, aromatic broth that’s both spicy and savory, enhanced by their signature house-made chili sauce and fresh fish balls. It’s no exaggeration to say this might be one of the best renditions of the dish in the San Gabriel Valley.
Guests who visit the El Monte location are welcomed with generous bowl sizes-many finding it hard to finish a large portion in one sitting. Their Bánh Canh also stands out with thick, chewy noodles and a satisfying seafood-based broth. While pricing for dine-in may be slightly higher than take-out, the quality of ingredients and portion size justify the value. Meals typically arrive within 10 minutes of ordering, especially early in the day, making it a great option for a warm, comforting breakfast.
Parking is conveniently located behind the restaurant, though the lot is one-way, so first-time visitors should be mindful when entering. The interior may feel like a classic “hole-in-the-wall,” but it retains a clean and cozy charm. Service can occasionally be slow just after opening, but staff are friendly and accommodating once seated. Though the restroom facilities could use improvement, most diners find the food well worth any minor inconveniences.
Kim Hoa Hue Restaurant continues to be a reliable destination for authentic Vietnamese cuisine in El Monte, consistently satisfying locals and visitors alike with bold flavors, great value, and the comforting warmth of traditional dishes served just right.
Kim Hoa Hue Restaurant Reviews
Wanted something soupy as my breakfast and stopped by this place. Very hole in the wall, but food was ok. When you arrive there is parking at the back, but it is one way. To-go says it's $12 for banh canh.... they charged me $14 dine in. Haven't had banh canh like this before, pretty ok. I'd rate it a 6.5/10. The lady was nice. Came right when they opened and they brought out this dish within 10 minutes. Bathroom didn't have toilet seat covers but may need some attention.
El Monte location is still open and functioning. Came here for the bun bo hue and banh canh, both very delicious. Came out piping hot and super flavorful! The portion sizes here are really good. We both got large and could not finish. Service was a bit slow but we came just a little after they opened, so understandable.
Good bún bò Huế, very tasty, by the way the store had moved to Temple city, no longer in El Monte, better location seem like a brand new building . Bánh bèo is so good, thicken, and very flavor.
Very Authentic Vietnamese restaurant in SGV located at Temple City area... it's a very convenient parking place and shown a good sign that you won't miss when you enter Temple City from San Gabriel. There are mostly Vietnamese customers since they are shown mainly in Vietnamese menu items. A small description in English underneath the menu items... I ordered a Nem Lui, means Shrimp paste with veggies n herbs, plus on the side with Rice Papers. You have to do it yourself... tasty especially in the summer with a hot weather!! They have been selling a lot of appetizers, new items of snacks, plus phos ....
I'm so happy they reopened this location. I know they have an other new location more north in SGV. Best bun Bo hue in the land. Great portions and their price standard to other noodle shops. Quality broth and house made chili sauce and fish balls.
